A super fast race categorised by constant attacking from Team Bigla, and hard chasing from Univega-Raleigh-Lifeforce, the aveage speed was over 41km an hour.

The first attack to gain serious ground was in fact Amber Neben of Buitenpoort Flexpoint just over half way through the race, but again it was Univega-Raleigh-Lifeforce who eventually hauled her back on lap 5 of 6.

Each lap featured one steep climb, and on the final lap this reduced the lead group to just 17, not including overall series leader Ina Teutenberg.

Nicole as the sole representative from Univega-Raleigh-Lifeforce had to repeatedly chase down attacks, and even put in one of her own. However with 1km to go Bigla's Zoulfia Zabirova got away as she has done many times to solo home just ahead of her chasers.

A tired Nicole finished fifth but picked up 27 points to collect the overall series leader's jersey.
