"Once
again I'm delighted to win the British title. It's something
that I don't take for granted and I will be extremely proud
to race around the world again for the next 12 months still
wearing the British Champions Jersey."
"I may have won by 25 seconds but it's never easy because
I put my reputation on the line every year when I return
as the defending champion and I know that all the rider's
have me in their sights."
"We've had a few hilly courses in
recent years, and this was flatter so it was harder to predict
how it might finish. I had a plan for if the race ended
in a sprint, you always have to have a few different strategies."
"It's always nice to win solo though,
obviously it removes the threats from an awkward group finish,
but it also means you can celebrate properly!"
"I knew exactly where I wanted
to make my efforts having ridden the course the day before,
and although it might look a comfortable victory in the
end for sure the strength and depth is growing year on year."
"I look forward to defending the title again in 2007,
and I know it's likely to be even harder. In the meantime
I hope I can do justice to the British jersey."
