World Championships 2006
Salzburg, Austria

This year's World Championships took place in Salzburg, Austria, with Nicole entering two events.

A four time World Junior Champion she'd previously taken Bronze in the 2003 Road Race, and Silver in 2005.

For the first time in 2006 she rode both the Worlds' Time Trial asc well as the Road Race.

Having already won the World Cup and topping the UCI World Rankings, Nicole ended the season with a third senior World Championship medal.

The World Championship Time Trial was on the opening day of racing in Salzburg, Wednesday 20th September.

Nicole was the third last rider to start over the 26.1 km course and finished with the fifth best time behind Kristin Armstrong of the USA. Her Univega team mates Karin Thüring and Priska Doppman were 2nd and 4th.
For the third time in four years Nicole won a medal in the World Championship Road Race.

A strong performance put her in a potential race winning break on the final lap, but with only one of her two breakaway companions prepared to work the trio were caught by 12 others.

In the final sprint Nicole took bronze.
