A change in the course
at Montreal by moving the finish line to the flat approach
to the Mont Royale climb still produced a worthy winner
in Italian climber Fabiana Luperini (Menikini) who escaped
on lap 8 of 11 with 2 other riders.
For the early part of the race the Raleigh Lifeforce Creation
HB riders were always present at the front and Tanja Slater
made an impressive World Cup debut for the team with some
great riding leading the bunch over the summit of the climb
and setting the pace through out the race.
The remains of the bunch split on the final ascent, passing
Pittel, Nicole was present in this group of riders which
also included Arndt, Wood (both Tmobile), Worrack (Nurenberg)
Longo(Unica) Vos (DSB) . Judith Arndt (Tmobile) placed a
well timed attack on the descent and immediately got a gap.
Behind, a chase never materialised and it was left for Nicole
to sprint for the final placings. Vos won the group sprint
to claim 5th place and Nicole finished just behind in 5th.
Nicole’s lead has reduced slightly in the world cup
standing with Vos now 53 points behind Nicole with three
rounds remaining.
